SEED
GERMINATION USING ROCKWOOL
There are many different methods of germinating seeds. Here’s a method that is successful for me.
Place
seed in rockwool. Put rockwool
in a plastic container.
Pour
water into container up to half the height of rockwool.
Close
the container lid tight to keep the moisture in. Place the container near
window where there is light but not under direct sunlight. Once you can see the
leaves, open the lid to reduce moisture level.

Rockwool cubes for seed germination, I have stock in
GERMINATING
GAILAN (KALE) SEED
I have made a time lapse video of Gailan seed sprouting.
HARVESTING
LETTUCE
The butterhead lettuce is of a different variety from my previous culture. I bought the seeds from two sources, Oh Chin Huat and Ban Lee Huat, and this variety is from Oh Chin Huat. The leaves are much smaller and darker.

CULTIVATING
BAYAM, GAILAN AND LETTUCE
Lettuce growth seems slower than previous cultivation, probably due to the competition of nutrients with Rocket plants. Now that the Rocket plants are gone, I am hopeful for a faster growth.

SAY
GOODBYE TO MY ROCKET PLANTS
After the 2nd harvest, I decided to sacrifice them for other veg species. Here’s a photo before I throw them away. I have reshuffled my Lettuce, Gailan, and Bayam plants, will post some photos soon.

PROJECT – CULTIVATING BAYAM AND GAILAN (KALE)
I decided to keep the two rocket plants for 2nd harvest. Seems 6 growing holes are not enough for now.

HARVESTING
ROCKET LEAVES (ARUGULA)
At last, I have harvested the Rocket leaves (which took about 9 weeks to harvest). I took the effort to buy a packet of Rocket leaves from Cold Storage, just to compare. The leaves on the left are grown by me, those on the right are bought from CS. They looked very different but have similar taste, probably of different variety.
